Himalayan blackberry is an invasive species at MOP. If left to its own devices, it will grow everywhere! Proper pruning and maintenance to set healthy boundaries are needed.
CHECK CARE INSTRUCTIONS FOR YOUR BIO REGION. NOTES HERE ARE FOR THE PACIFIC NORTH WEST.
Harvest
Himalayan blackberry stalks may be harvested for fibre in May and June.
Thornless blackberry stalks do not provide fibre, as the Himalayan does. Different strokes. Different pokes.
However, both species provide delicious berries in late summer.
Uses
Stalks from Himalayan blackberry bushes can be used for corage or basketry fibre.
